OUR PRODUCTION

AND BRAND PHILOSOPHY

NATURE PROVIDES

Humans are smart, but nature is smarter - this is why Altidude has opted for Merino wool, nature's wonder fiber and one that has evolved and improved over thousands of years. One of the best-performing natural fibers in the world, Merino wool can breathe and creates a cozy micro-climate above your skin which always keeps you warm and dry.

It is hypoallergenic, safe for sensitive skin and has a UVP factor higher than any other fabric. It is naturally flame-resistant and ten times more durable than cotton or silk. Only healthy animals produce the high quality wool we desire. Our wool comes from certified mulesing free farms where animals are treated with respect.

Characteristics: odor and water repellent | fast-drying | keeps you warm when wet | incredibly colorfast | flame resistant and self-extinguishing | biodegradable, sustainable and renewable.

DESIGNED IN GERMANY
MADE IN EUROPE

Facing the challenges of today's globalized world, Altidude has made the deliberate decision to keep all production in European Union countries. This strengthens regional economies, rewards reliable suppliers and ethical production policies and at the same time shortens delivery times and reduces the carbon footprint. Thus, by conforming to all EU legislation regarding fair working conditions, Altidude reinforces its holistic approach and encourages the responsible manufacturing of outdoor gear of the highest possible quality.

WHO & WHY?

Once upon a time there was a hiker who lost his favorite beanie in the mountains. When he returned from his trip and wanted to buy another, he found that it was sold out and this particular beanie was no longer being manufactured. This gave rise to the idea of working together with a lifelong friend who specializes in knitwear production to create beanies with our own design that would keep your head warm both on expeditions and in urban environments. Most producers adapt their new collections to current trends and the previous year's models are often no longer available. There will then be no way to aquire that favorite beanie again. Things are completely different with ALTIDUDE. With a lining made of 100% merino wool, we offer functional beanies in a timeless design. We promise to continue producing popular models, so they will be available in case you need another. Our logo was inspired by the graphics of Icelandic cartoonist Hugleikur Dagsson (www.dagsson.com).

YARNS MADE IN ITALY

OUR YARN SUPPLIERS

Filivivi

Since the founding of ALTIDUDE we have chosen to work with the yarns of Filivivi's brands Lanerossi Filati (lambswool) and Folco (merino wool), because they reflect our own expectations when it comes to responsible and high-quality production of textiles within Europe.
The core values of their philosophy include high-quality raw materials, sustainability, experienced in-house production and manufacturing with the utmost care. The intense color palettes make Filivivi's products instantly recognizable and are perfectly suited for what we like to offer.

LAMBSWOOL BLEND

Lanerossi Filati

Composition:
80% virgin lambswool
20% polyamide

100% MERINO WOOL

Lanerossi Filati

Composition:
100% virgin wool(merino)

50/50 MERINO BLEND

Folco

Composition:
50% virgin wool (merino)
50% acrylic (dralon)

Lambswool fibers are shorter than those of other wool, which makes the fibers softer. The combination of Italian virgin lambswool with recycled polyamide creates a yarn that is ideal for the production of beanies and other wool accessories as it prevents wearing out and makes the yarn more robust. In addition we have a very large selection of colors for our lambswool/polyamide blend (80/20) and can therefore offer a wide selection of color variations.

One of the best-performing natural fibers in the world, Merino wool can breathe and creates a cozy micro-climate above your skin which always keeps you warm and dry. It is hypoallergenic and safe for sensitive skin. With its naturally insulating, moisture wicking and antibacterial properties Merino wool is an exceptional choice for performance fabrics. Our Merino wool comes from certified mulesing free farms where animals are treated with respect.

Dralon produced by Dralon GmbH is unrivaled on the market as a dry-spun acrylic fiber. Because Dralon Acrylic is a dry-spun fiber, almost no water is used in the production process, compared to cotton or wool. The combination of Merino wool with Dralon Acrylic creates a soft and robust yarn with exceptional functional properties such as quick drying and moisture wicking.

Pecci Filati has been designing and manufacturing yarns with high-quality natural materials since 1884. They produce all yarns in-house and the only thing that is outsourced is the wet dyeing process.

Alpaca has many similarities to sheep's wool, but is significantly softer and warmer. Alpaca wool is also silkier and contains no lanolin which makes it a hypoallergenic fiber. It is prized for creating ultra soft and luxurious yarns. By combining Alpaca and Merino wool we are merging the best properties of both fibers, creating a wonderfully soft yarn which is super warm, safe for sensitive skin and ultra light weight.
